Use this 5-step formula to make easy scrapbook pages. 
Kelly Purkey used a photo of her boyfriend and herself along with bits of tweeted and texted messages to get a “snapshot” of quick daily interactions. A blocked design provides a great backdrop to the many snippets of journaling.

How to make this layout
- Start with a 6″ x 5″ sepia-toned photo. Mount it flush with right edge of page and 1″ down from page top. Select several brightly colored but subtly-patterned papers for blocking out the page. Select a tone-on-tone text-print patterned paper for backing up journaling strips.
- Block out the rest of the page with these papers:
– Trim and place these blocks based upon photo size and placement.
– Place 1″ strip at page top spanning entire width.
– Place strip and block below photo to page bottom
– Place text-print block to span the height of photo and patterned paper blocks.
– Add narrow cardstock strips as desired. - Print messages on white cardstock using a different color for each of the “chatters.” Trim them to little bits and mount staggered on the text-print paper along the left edge of the page.
- Embellish with asterisks and talk bubbles to support page theme.
- Add more journaling and a colorful embellishment at bottom right.
