How to make this layout

  1. Begin with an artsy background paper. (You can find these from Anna Aspnes’ ArtPlay Palette kits.)
  2. Layer a photo mask on the left side of the canvas. (To find photo masks, search for “photo masks” or “blending masks” at your favorite digital store. For example, check out masks by Anna Aspnes at OscrapsKatie Pertiet at Designer Digitals, and Tiffany Tillman at Design House Digital.)
  3. Layer photo above clipping mask and “clip” it to the mask. (To do this make sure the photo is on the layer above the mask, then right click on the layer in the Layer Palette, and select “Create clipping mask.”)
  4. Journal in a wide column along the right side of the canvas.
  5. Add “corner” stitching at top right and bottom left of the journaling block.
  6. Add title above the photo. Tilt to match the tilt of the photo.
  7. Layer embellishments below photo. Add embellishing brushwork above photo and at the bottom right of canvas.
