Use this 8-step formula to make easy scrapbook pages. Converting a series of photos to black and white allowed Jana Morton free reign with bold colors and patterned papers on “Today.” The end result is a simple design with energizing pops of color and pattern and a series of photos that convey the fun her son is having at the playground.

How to make this layout
- Use white textured cardstock for page canvas.
- Mount a wide strip boldly patterned paper at page top. Layer a narrow dark strip of ribbon or paper at the lower edge of this strip. [Optional: add brushwork or paint splatters to spill out just a bit beneath this band.]
- Convert 4 portrait-oriented photos to black and white and trim or edit to include narrow white mat.
- Cluster the photos over the patterned paper band. Tilt some of the photos. Bleed all of them off the top edge of the page.
- Group title and journaling in a block at lower right on the canvas.
- Embellish title.
