Kelly Prang says, “This was a sweet photo of my daughter 5 years ago. I love to go back and scrap pages with older photos and reminisce about the ways she has changed and how she’s stayed the same as time has passed.”

“I loved the teal and salmon colors of this simple and striking wedding shower cake. I was inspired by the mix of simplicity (plain smooth icing) and complexity (florals, ribbon trim). On this page, I attempted to capture the colors and mood from cake photo. I used hints of the yellow from the florals on the wedding cake in the paint on the layout. I add glitter for shine on the page.”

Devra Hunt says, “This page is about the morning walk I take with my dog. I get to see the sun rising over the trees, and I always feel awakened by this routine.”

“My wedding cake inspiration came from my own cake. I was inspired by the near monochromatic colors of it and the stacked tiers.  I designed the page with stacked strips of paper. They are all is blues with a variety of pattern. The patterns and embellishments support the outdoor theme of the page.”

Audrey Tan says, “This page is about a group of yoga girls having a meet up after class. All of us are foreigners living in India, and we attend the same yoga class. Slowly we got to know each other and started meeting up after our class.”

“I took inspiration from this Indian wedding cake. The colors are rich oranges and pinks with indigo, purple, and gold accents. The embellishing shapes are paisleys, butterflies, floral petals. In India, weddings are not white-gown affairs. They are colorful, and the cakes reflect that. I took inspiration from the colors and added a bit of Indian embellishment. I included the Hindi word ‘Om’ that we chant before we start our yoga exercises.”

Judean Patten-Clark says, “My page is about how accomplishing the simplest errands became a major endeavor this past winter with the massive amounts of snow we had in Boston.”

“My inspiration is this wedding cake with frosting that looks like birch bark–perfect for my winter story. I used pictures of my two youngest atop huge snow mounds on our way to school one morning. I applied black acrylic paint to white cardstock strips to create the birch trunks that form the background of my layout.”

Deborah Wagner says, “This page is one of many I’m making for a  graduation present for my best friend’s daughter.”

I was inspired by a streamlined cake of stacked square layers in black and white, a swoop of bright red flowers spiraling up and across the front. Seeing it made me want to run to my computer and start scrapbooking. Although my page went in somewhat different direction, the wedding cake influenced my initial choices. The next time I am stuck on a layout, I will definitely search the web for wedding cake inspiration. The wonderful use of color and imaginative designs are amazing.”
