Make an Easy Two-Page Scrapbook Layout in 6 Steps | Get It ScrappedUse these 6 steps to quickly crop photos, select papers and arrange it all into a two-page scrapbook layout with a series of narrow portraits, a couple of supporting shots and generous journaling.

1. Choose 5 photos that can be cropped to narrow “portraits.” Crop them all to 3″ wide. Their heights can vary. Plan to mount them staggered as shown.

2. Choose two supporting shots and crop them both to 5″ wide. Their height combined should be less than 7″.

3. Block out a background with a 6″ x 12″ block at far left and a 4″ x 12″ band at far right. In the center fill the bottom 4″ with one paper and the top 8″ with another. Choose papers that work for your photos. I chose gray, black, white, and red in solids and geometric prints for page about going to a big technology/gaming event.

4. Add title above the two photos on the left.

5. Add journaling on paper strip that fits on band at right.

6. Embellish to create flow and to ground other pieces. This page didn’t need much embellishing but your story may need a little more. Notice that the title functions as an embellishment here — and it’s the first point in a visual triangle  that also includes a piece of flair and a piece of wordart.

Terry Billman says, “The sketch provided was ideal for showcasing the series of photos of my nephew’s first touchdown. The dark blue strokes on selected photos were used to highlight the focal photo on the left and to guide your eyes through the layout from left to right. The photos are the heart of this layout and tell the story on their own, therefore; I used very few embellishments.”
